About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Century Pools Pty Ltd (ABN 18 656 162 622), trading as Century Pools North Coast (“we”, “us” or “our”), collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information through our website at https://centurypoolsnorthcoast.com.au/ (the “website”) and in the course of our business.

We supply and install fibreglass swimming pools across the NSW North Coast, from Tweed Heads to Coffs Harbour. We are committed to handling your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Some small businesses are not required to comply with the Privacy Act, but we have chosen to follow the APPs as a matter of good practice.

By using our website or giving us your personal information, you agree to it being handled as described in this policy.

What personal information we collect

Personal information is information or an opinion that identifies you, or could reasonably identify you.

Information you give us

When you use the quote or contact forms on our website, or contact us by phone, email or in person, we may collect:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • your phone number
  • your suburb (and, where relevant, your property address for a site inspection)
  • the content of your message, including details about your property, backyard and the pool you are interested in
  • any other information you choose to give us, such as photos or plans of your site

If you become a customer, we may also collect information needed to prepare a quote, carry out installation and manage your account, such as your full address, site details and payment information.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, we and our third-party service providers may automatically collect technical information, such as:

  • your IP address and approximate location
  • your device type, browser and operating system
  • pages you visit, how long you spend on them and how you arrived at our website (for example, from a search engine or an advertisement)
  • interactions such as form submissions, clicks and video plays

This information is collected using cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies (see “Cookies, analytics and advertising” below). It is generally not used on its own to identify you.

Sensitive information

We do not seek to collect sensitive information (such as health information, racial or ethnic origin, or religious beliefs). Please do not include sensitive information in messages you send us.

How we collect personal information

We collect personal information:

  • directly from you, when you submit a form on our website, call or email us, or meet us in person or at your property
  • automatically, through cookies and similar technologies when you use our website
  • from third parties where reasonably necessary, such as builders, contractors or other trades involved in your project, or advertising and analytics platforms

Submissions made through our quote and contact forms are sent to us by email. These emails are processed and stored by our website and email service providers (Microsoft 365 for email, and our website hosting provider in Australia).

Dealing with us anonymously

You can browse our website without telling us who you are. You may also ask general questions without identifying yourself. However, we will need your name and contact details to respond to an enquiry, provide a quote or arrange a site inspection.

Why we collect and use personal information

We collect, hold and use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiries and quote requests
  • contact you to arrange a site inspection and prepare a formal written quote
  • supply and install your pool and provide after-sales service and warranty support
  • manage our relationship with you, including billing and record keeping
  • operate, maintain and improve our website, products and services
  • understand how visitors use our website and measure the effectiveness of our advertising
  • send you information about our products, services and offers, where permitted (see “Direct marketing” below)
  • comply with our legal obligations and resolve disputes

We will only use your personal information for another purpose if you have consented, or if it is permitted or required by law.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels and tags) to make our website work, remember your preferences, understand how the website is used, and measure and improve our advertising.

You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies. If you do, some parts of the website may not work as intended.

Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website, such as which pages are viewed and how people find us. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information that is usually aggregated and does not directly identify you. We use Google Tag Manager to manage the analytics and tracking tags on our website; Tag Manager itself is a tool for deploying these tags.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. To learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services, visit https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Google Ads conversion tracking

We use Google Ads conversion tracking to measure how well our Google advertisements perform, for example whether someone who clicked an ad later submitted an enquiry. Google may also use this information to show you relevant ads on other websites.

You can manage your Google ad preferences, or turn off personalised ads, at https://adssettings.google.com (My Ad Center).

Meta (Facebook) pixel

We use the Meta pixel, a tool provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. (the company behind Facebook and Instagram). The pixel helps us measure the effectiveness of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram, understand actions people take on our website, and show ads to people who have visited our website or who are similar to our visitors.

Meta may link this information to your Facebook or Instagram account if you have one. You can control how Meta uses this information to show you ads through your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences (Settings > Accounts Center > Ad preferences). More information is available in Meta’s Privacy Policy at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Other ways to opt out

You may also be able to limit interest-based advertising through industry tools such as https://www.youronlinechoices.com.au, and through privacy settings on your mobile device (for example, limiting ad tracking or resetting your advertising ID).

Embedded third-party content

Our website includes embedded videos from YouTube (owned by Google) and Vimeo. When you view a page containing an embedded video, or play the video, these providers may set cookies on your device and collect information about you (such as your IP address and viewing activity), even if you do not interact with the video. If you are signed in to your Google or Vimeo account, they may link this activity to your account.

We do not control how these providers collect or use your information. Please review their privacy policies:

  • YouTube / Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy
  • Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/privacy

Disclosure of personal information

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose your personal information to:

  • our employees and contractors, including installers, excavators, electricians, plumbers, engineers, certifiers and other trades involved in your project
  • pool manufacturers and suppliers, where needed to supply your pool or handle a warranty claim
  • service providers who help us run our business, such as website hosting, email, IT, form-handling, analytics, advertising, accounting, payment and finance providers
  • our website developer, Digital Accord, for the purpose of building, maintaining and supporting the website
  • our professional advisers, such as lawyers, accountants and insurers
  • government authorities, councils and regulators, where required or authorised by law
  • anyone else you have consented to us disclosing it to

We require our service providers to handle personal information only for the purposes for which we provide it.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia. In particular, Google (including Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads and YouTube), Meta and Vimeo may store and process information on servers located in the United States and other countries. Our email and hosting providers may also use servers overseas.

Where we disclose personal information to overseas recipients, we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it in a way consistent with the APPs. By using our website and providing us with your information, you acknowledge that it may be transferred overseas and that overseas recipients may not be subject to Australian privacy law.

Direct marketing

We may use your name and contact details to send you information about our pools, services, promotions and news, where you would reasonably expect us to, or where you have consented. We may also use website data (such as through the Meta pixel and Google Ads) to show you relevant advertising on other platforms.

You can opt out of receiving marketing communications from us at any time by:

  • using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email
  • contacting us using the details below

We will process your request within a reasonable time. Opting out of marketing will not stop us contacting you about an existing quote, project or warranty matter.

Security of personal information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include using secure (HTTPS) connections on our website, password-protected systems and email accounts, and limiting access to people who need it.

However, no method of transmitting or storing information over the internet is completely secure. Information you send us through our website or by email is sent at your own risk.

Retention of personal information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law (for example, tax, building and warranty record-keeping obligations). Enquiries that do not proceed to a project are generally kept for up to 12 months after your last contact unless we need it longer for a quote, contract or legal reason. When personal information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

Access and correction

You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. We will not charge you for making a request, but may charge a reasonable fee to cover the cost of providing access in some cases. If we refuse your request, we will tell you why in writing and how you can complain.

Complaints

If you have a concern or complaint about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us in writing using the details below. Please give us enough detail to understand your concern.

We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):

  • Website: www.oaic.gov.au
  • Phone: 1300 363 992

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law, our business or the technologies we use. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
